This cookie policy explains how JKS London Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, what each type of cookie does and how you can control them. We keep the cookies we use to a minimum and only set non-essential cookies with your consent.
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally. If you have any questions, please contact us.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners. Cookies can be:
- first-party cookies, set by the website you are visiting (in this case, jkslondon.com), or third-party cookies, set by another service whose content appears on the page;
- session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage and session storage, also store information on your device. In this policy we use the word “cookies” to cover all of these technologies unless we say otherwise.
2. The law on cookies
The use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). Under PECR, we must tell you clearly what cookies we use and why, and obtain your consent before storing or accessing information on your device, unless an exemption applies. The main exemption is for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested, such as keeping items in your basket or keeping the site secure.
Following changes made by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, PECR also permits some limited, low-risk uses without consent, such as collecting statistical information to improve a website (provided users are given clear information and a simple, free way to object) and remembering choices you make about how a website looks or works. Even where such an exemption might apply, we currently ask for your consent through our cookie banner before setting any analytics cookies.
Where cookies collect personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 also apply.
3. How we manage your consent
We use CookieYes to manage cookie consent. When you first visit our website, a banner asks you to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies or customise your choices by category. Non-essential cookies are not set unless you agree to them.
Your choice is stored in a cookie called cookieyes-consent, so that we do not ask you again on every page and can respect your preferences. A record of your consent (with a pseudonymous identifier, the date and time and the categories chosen) is also kept so that we can demonstrate compliance, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changing your preferences
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the “Cookie settings” button, which appears on every page of the website once you have made your initial choice. This reopens the consent panel so that you can switch categories on or off. Withdrawing consent will not affect cookies already set before you changed your mind, but you can delete those using your browser settings (see section 6).
How long your choice lasts
Your consent choices are remembered for up to 12 months, after which the banner will ask you again. You will also be asked again if you clear your browser’s cookies, use a different browser or device, or if we make a significant change to the cookies we use. Rejecting non-essential cookies will never stop you from browsing our website, reading our guides, using our calculator or requesting a quotation.
Why we ask before setting most cookies
We believe you should be in control of what is stored on your device. That is why our banner gives “Accept” and “Reject” options equal prominence, and why categories other than strictly necessary are switched off until you choose to turn them on. We do not use pre-ticked boxes, and we do not treat continued browsing as consent.
4. The cookies we use
The tables below list the cookies used on our website, grouped by category. Some cookies are set only in particular circumstances, for example when you add a service to your basket or log in to an account. Cookie names containing * or [hash] include a unique identifier.
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function and to keep it secure. They cannot be switched off in our consent banner. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site, such as the checkout and account area, will not work properly.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cookieyes-consent | CookieYes (first party) | Stores your cookie consent choices so they can be respected on future visits | 1 year |
wordpress_test_cookie | WordPress | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies | Session |
wordpress_logged_in_* | WordPress | Keeps you logged in to your account and identifies you while you are logged in | Session, or 14 days if you choose “Remember me” |
wordpress_sec_* | WordPress | Secure authentication for logged-in users | Session, or 14 days if you choose “Remember me” |
wp-settings-* and wp-settings-time-* | WordPress | Stores interface settings for logged-in users (for example, account and dashboard layout) | 1 year |
woocommerce_cart_hash | WooCommerce | Helps the site tell when the contents of your basket have changed | Session |
woocommerce_items_in_cart | WooCommerce | Records whether there are items in your basket | Session |
wp_woocommerce_session_* | WooCommerce | Links your basket and checkout details to your visit so that your booking is not lost between pages | 2 days |
wfwaf-authcookie-* | Wordfence | Set for logged-in users only; lets our website firewall recognise logged-in users so that legitimate account activity is not blocked | 12 hours |
Our Wordfence security service also inspects every request to the website, including IP addresses, to block malicious traffic. This processing is described in our Privacy Policy.
4.2 Functional and preference cookies
These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced features. They may be set by us or by third-party services whose content we embed, such as maps or videos.
| Cookie or technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embedded content cookies (for example, maps or video players) | Third-party providers | Allow embedded content to load and remember settings such as language or playback preferences | Varies by provider; see the provider’s cookie policy |
Where a page includes embedded third-party content, the provider may set its own cookies. We aim to load such content only when you have consented to the relevant category, or to show a link instead. These providers are responsible for their own cookies, and we recommend that you read their privacy and cookie policies.
4.3 Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website, for example which pages are most popular and how people find us, so that we can improve it. We do not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce an analytics service in future, we will update this policy with the names, providers and durations of the cookies used, and they will be set only with your consent through the cookie banner (or, if we rely on the statistical-purposes exemption in PECR, with clear information and a simple way to object).
Recent versions of WooCommerce include an optional order attribution feature which, if enabled, uses cookies beginning sbjs_ to record how a visitor arrived at the site before placing an order. If this feature is used on our website, we treat these cookies as analytics cookies and they will be listed here and controlled through the consent banner.
4.4 Advertising and marketing cookies
We do not use advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies on our website.
5. Local storage and session storage
As well as cookies, our website uses your browser’s local storage and session storage to make certain features work smoothly. For example:
- our EICR cost calculator may remember the inputs you entered, so that you do not have to re-enter them if you return to the page;
- the site may remember interface preferences, such as whether you have dismissed a notice or expanded a section; and
- WooCommerce uses session storage to keep the basket display up to date while you browse.
This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. It is used only to provide features you have chosen to use or to remember your preferences. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for jkslondon.com.
6. Controlling cookies through your browser
Most web browsers allow you to see what cookies are stored, delete them individually or all at once, and block cookies from particular or all websites. Blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may mean that parts of our website, such as the booking checkout, do not work.
You can find out how to manage cookies in the most popular browsers here:
For general information about cookies and how to control them, you can also visit the ICO’s guidance on cookies.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time, for example if we add new features to the website, change the services we use or if the law changes. When we make a significant change, such as introducing a new category of cookie, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where required, ask for your consent again through the cookie banner.
8. Contact us
If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please email [email protected], call 020 8859 7512 or write to JKS London Ltd, The Stables, Unit 10, Bunkers Hill, Sidcup, Kent, DA14 5EX.
